YouTube might pay big money for your video
YouTube, a Google’s division, will begin a revenue-sharing program for people whose videos become big hits, even to celebrities who use pseudonyms. What it means is simple, if you create and post slick videos on YouTube and have a devoted following of online fans, you could make money from your efforts. Remember, the revenue comes from the advertising posted around your video!
YouTube already gives corporate partners such as CBS, Sony and NBA a cut but it wants now to extend similar partnerships to everyone else, it includes individuals, companies or universities. A growing number of amateur and professional videographers are producing sophisticated series, sequels, concept videos and sitcoms not for television but for the Internet.
Now, the revenue-sharing might have just been a bandwagon to Metacafe that pays $5 when a video is viewed 1,000 times, or Revver (a YouTube rival) that splits advertising revenue 50-50 with the people who create the videos. But you know what, who cares! We welcome the idea of sharing with others a piece of the pie.
